FTPO recipient of the 2024 Quality Apple Award – awards for the best international integration projects

We are delighted to share the news that our faculty received the 2024 Quality Apple Award – awards for the best international integration projects for the project Polyflip - student-centered learning using the flipped classroom method. The PolyFlip project is a great example of how good projects are backed by a dedicated team of people who share a common vision. We're super proud of what we've achieved together and really grateful to all our partners for their unwavering dedication and cooperation.

Ljubljana, December 12, 2024 – The Center for Mobility and European Educational and Training Programs (CMEPIUS), in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, has awarded national recognition to the most outstanding international projects in the Erasmus+ and eTwinning programs, the European Award for Innovative Teaching 2024, and the European Language Label 2024. The FTPO was represented at the award ceremony by the Dean of FTPO, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Blaž Nardin, Vice-Dean for Education, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Irena Pulko, Project Coordinator and Head of the Career Center and Project Office Maja Mešl, and Head of the Career Center and Marketing Office Sara Jeseničnik.

The event took place in the hall of the Union Hotel in Ljubljana. After introductory speeches by the director of CMEPIUS, Dr. Alenka Flander, and the Minister of Education, Dr. Vinko Logaj, the awards were presented, namely: quality apples for excellent practices in international cooperation in the Erasmus+ program, gold cables for projects within the eTwinning initiative, the European Language Label, and the European Award for Innovative Teaching. Our faculty received the Quality Apple 2024 award in the category of higher education institutions for Erasmus+ program projects that, in addition to quality and excellence, have had a significant impact on the professional development of educators, the institution, the local and wider social environment, and some even on the education system.

The explanation for the award for our project is written in the Quality Apple 2024 brochure as follows:

"POLYFLIP – student-centered learning using the flipped classroom method"

The Faculty of Polymer Technology in Slovenj Gradec is boldly expanding its mission with modern pedagogical and didactic methods, which have also been implemented in an international partnership with the POLYFLIP project. They have adapted and practically implemented the flipped classroom approach and, with the help of high-quality e-materials and clear learning paths, have demonstrated that this pedagogical approach is also possible in very demanding natural science subjects. The project brought together the knowledge and skills of an excellent international partnership, which achieved remarkable results through the use of state-of-the-art digital technologies and student-centered, collaborative teaching approaches. It has also caused a revolutionary shift in the minds of teaching staff and created a whole new dynamic of modern teaching approaches. All participants agree that both the quality of teaching and the motivation of management and staff to continue working actively in this field and to share their newly acquired competences and experiences with other Slovenian and foreign higher education institutions and industry have significantly improved.

Details about the event and photos are available on the official CMEPIUS website.
