We’re Hiring - Researcher in Covalent Adaptable Networks for Sustainable Composites (reCANet)
FTPO is recruiting a researcher to join the Interreg Slovenia–Austria project reCANet, which FTPO coordinates.
Fibre-reinforced polymer composites are strong and lightweight but notoriously difficult to recycle, owing to their permanently cross-linked matrices. reCANet develops an emerging solution: composites built on covalent adaptable networks (CANs) — polymer matrices with dynamic covalent bonds that retain the mechanical robustness of conventional thermosets while enabling repair, reprocessing, and high-quality recycling. The project combines bio-based CAN resins with natural fibres, in a cross-border consortium led by FTPO with NIC, Wood K plus, CUAS, Veplas, and Capita MFG.
The researcher will contribute across the innovation chain — from CAN resin formulation to composite processing and end-of-life validation — with the specific focus shaped by their background and interests. The position is open at Master's or PhD level, with optional doctoral co-supervision available for Master's-level candidates. It is a full-time salaried appointment running until December 2028, based at FTPO in Slovenj Gradec.
Applications should be submitted by 22 May 2026. Full details and application information are available on the Euraxess listing.
